Marty's guide to wedging a 7.5" diff into a 7" beam

1st thing is to see the difference between the 2 diffs (7" and 7.5")

The 7.5" is allot bigger overall, the good news is that ALL the mounting points and prop shaft and drive shaft point are in the same place.

The only difference can be seen here, the 7" diff (left piccy) uses one long bolt on the top mount and the 7.5" diff uses 2 short bolts (ALL OTHER MOUNTS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME) the top mount is also narrower (you can fit a 7" diff into a 7.5" beam by using washers to take up the space).

Now the problem is that the overall width of the 7" diff top mount is 177mm and 193mm on the 7.5" diff.

The good news is that its only on one side, from the left to the start of the centre rib is 85mm on both 7" and 7.5" diff

So all that is needed to make it fit is to cut down the right hand side of the 7.5" diff so the overall length is 177mm (I have shaded the bit to be cut off) after re-drill the hole deeper and re-tap.

Some people have said to remove the whole beam and cut of the mounting and re-weld it so it fits but that sound like too much work.

Now just a few piccys of the diffs
