Marty's Fuel Computer Install Instructions

These instructions assume you don't have the proper loom or only the plug and a few inches of wire coming out of it.

In these instructions I'll show you how to wire up both the proper Sierra fuel computer AND the Granada/Escort type one.

You can DIY a loom with just some wire and and spade connectors.

1. Identify your socket and figure out the pin numbers, both the Sierra and Granada/Escort have the same pin-out BUT they are wired different.

Here is a piccy of the socket of a Granada/Escort fuel computer (socket/plug on the Sierra is the same)

2. If you don't have the plug you can use spade connectors.

3. Once you have figured out your PIN's all you have to do is connect the wires to the relevant points.

THE SIERRA TYPE PIN-OUT's

PIN1= Light's (tap into the light on your clock or dash lights).

PIN2= Fuel gauge sender. Do NOT tap into fuel gauge in the dash, it has its own link as the senders have 3 separate connections in the tank. Look for a Brown/Red wire in the boot and tap into that.

PIN3= Earth (-)

PIN4= Positive (+) perm live.

PIN5= VSS (vehicle speed sensor) PIN4 on the ECU for the 2.0 DOHC and 2.9EFI (PIN3 for 2.9 EFI with CAT engines)

PIN6= Ignition live (+ switched)

PIN7= NOT USED

PIN8= NOT USED

PIN9= FFS (fuel flow sensor) PIN17 on the ECU for the 2.0 DOHC NON-CAT and 2.9EFI NON-CAT (PIN34 for 2.9 EFI and 2.0 DOHC CAT engines)

You can tap into the various wires using block connectors, Scotch-locks or solder.  Don't just strip wires and twist them together and bung a bit of tape on them in case it comes loose!!

THE GRANADA/ESCORT TYPE PIN-OUT's

PIN1= Live all the time

PIN2= Lights

PIN3= Fuel gauge sender. Do NOT tap into fuel gauge in the dash, it has its own link as the senders have 3 separate connections in the tank. Look for a Brown/Red wire in the boot and tap into that. You do NOT have to connect this wire, if you don't just isolate it and the mile to empty function is disabled.

PIN4= NOT USED

PIN5= Earth

PIN6= VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) you can tap into the ECU for this one. ECU Pin 4 for NON CAT or ECU PIN 3 for CAT Models.  (PIN3 for RS2000-16V ECU)

PIN7= FFS (Fuel Flow Sensor) again you can tap into the ECU for this one. ECU Pin 17 for NON CAT or ECU PIN 34 for CAT Models.  (PIN34 for RS2000-16V ECU)

PIN8= NOT USED

PIN9= Ignition (live)

Granada ones are cheaper and easier to find, he's a piccy of one wedged into a standard Sierra dash.
