RS2000 engine 150bhp, Scorpio 136bhp.
Why?
Scorpio engine,
Based on the RS2000 engine
New pistons with raised compression rings, piston crown modified
to reduce compression from 10:3 to 9:8
Modified inlet ports, new inlet valve seats, changed fit for
valve guides
Modified inlet valves
Sodium cooled exhaust valves taken from the RS2000
Variable resonance Inlet System for improved torque
So, there are some improvments over the RS2000 engine
Inlet ports are improved
Improved valve seat angles and valves (inlet)
VIS inlet system and twin throttle bodys
Now the bad bits (Scorpio engine)
Injectors are 192cc while the RS2000 ones are 255cc
Exhaust system is very restictive
EECV ECU is tuned for emmissions and NOT performance
Bowled pistons so lower compression
Cams are the same for both engines.
So, my plan is to use the best bits from both engines.
Scorpio head
Sierra DOHC rebuilt block (EXACT same flat-top pistons as the RS2000)
When used with the steel laminate head gasket should give approx
10.44:1CR
VIS inlet system
4-2-1 wrapped exhaust manifold (no cat) and Ashley system
RS2000 injectors
MegaSquirt+EDIS4
The standard RS2000 is rated 150bhp, so the config above 'should' be in the region of 175bhp based on the fact that the following parts are superior to the RS2000.
VIS system
Slightly better head
Better exhaust manifold+system
Much better ECU
No cat
