I started playing LFS again since a few days ago.
My driving skills are very bad.
So I got some questions, maybe i can improve my skills a little.
What is the best view? I always use the one where you only see the front wheels.
How do I drift? Now I just shift back 1 or 2 and turn...
What is the best way to accelerate when the light turns green?

In my opinion, you should race in the interior view ...

This is the best because it's more realistic, and you get a real perspective of where you are, like in a real car.
After all, when you go down to the shops, you don't sit on the cars suspension and look at the bare wheels do you? lol.
You have to remember that this game is a real simulation, and not an arcade Ridge Racer style game ...
So basically, you have to think and drive in the same way as you would for a real car ...

There are lots of methods to drift a car, here is the one I use the most ...

Come up to the corner at high revs in 3rd, let go of the accelerator and turn a little (just a little!) in the opposite direction of the corner.
Then just as you are entering the corner, turn hard-ish towards the corner and accelerate to get the car to slide.
Then all you have to do is hold the side with counter-steer and the accelerator ...

Another easier way is just to quickly tap the handbrake while going around the corner to get the back end to slide.
Then all you have to do is hold the side with counter-steer and the accelerator ...

Somebody mixed the audio from a real drift video, with video from LFS. It's quite well done.

And as for race starts, the time between the last red light and the green light is random for every race.
Have the car revving high, 6000rpm to 7000rpm, and just let go of the clutch (or press go, lol) as soon as it changes to to green.
You can't really do much else, you'll just have to practice to improve your reaction time ...

I use the view where you see the whole car, but only becuase every single driving game I've ever played I've used that view, so it's a matter of habit, sometimes I switch to the interior view

As for setting off, sometimes I find you can 'beat the lights' by going on the last red light just before it turns green

That rarely works, you'll get a time penality or even be forced to spectate if you do that.
The time between the last red light and the green light is random every time ...
